Why We Started Catalyst

Why We Started Catalyst

Why We Started Catalyst

Hi there 👋🏻 Daniel here — I'm one of the parent founders behind Catalyst. When we began, we weren’t sure if we were the right people to challenge the traditional education model. We’re not career educators, but we’re parents who saw, through our own children and conversations with other parents, that school just wasn’t working.

The core issue? Our children weren’t engaged. They weren’t learning in ways that fueled their natural curiosity, and they certainly weren’t learning the skills they’ll need in this new age of AI and technology. Instead, school seemed to condition them to follow a set of rules, measure their performance, and move on—all aimed at getting into a good college. But when did education stop being about learning and start being about testing?

Schools today seem to focus on grading and moving from one topic to the next, without considering how it truly benefits children in the long run. What’s the point of learning something if it doesn’t ignite their curiosity or prepare them for the future?

What if we could reignite that spark of curiosity—get them excited to learn, create, solve, and innovate?

That’s the goal we set out to achieve.

Join us in reshaping education it for the future of our children.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS

Not Just "Project Based" Learning

Not Just "Project Based" Learning

Not Just "Project Based" Learning

Not Just "Project Based" Learning

You'll find many project-based learning schools, but what we’re doing is different. We’re not just having students work on interesting projects (though those are important). Instead, we’re immersing them in real decision-making processes, as if they were actually in charge of historic events.

They’ll face situations where they need to think quickly, solve complex problems, and understand the real-world consequences of their decisions. This approach develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a dynamic, hands-on way.
